*70 pounds of equipment and in to some cases covered in 20-30 pounds of mud running into no man's land
*constant bombardment: hard to find grenades, hear gas shells, and notice enemies
*chance to get your skull bashed in while sleeping by trench raiders armed with wooden clubs complete with metal pieces
*little to no physchological help or treatment
*being a sentry made you a prime target for snipers at night
*you are being watched by snipers awake on shifts 24/7 waiting for you or your friends to pop up
*no charge against an enemy trench will ever have 0 casualties
*limb amputations comparable to that of civil war medical procedures
*if the snipers aren't watching you, the planes are
*retreat is basically not an option if you're not in a trench
*supplies were very hard to get after crossing no man's land if you succeed the charge
