The key point that modern liberals miss is the difference between equality of opportunity and equality of outcome. It is our duty as freemen to create a civilisation that allows everyone to fulfill their potential without encroaching on the rights of the individual.
That's the crux of what Locke was getting at and the current libertarian movement embodies. It's what America was fucking built upon.
