The wall will be paid for via taxes on Mexican imports, remittance payments, and work/travel visas, in addition to the cessation of all foreign aid to Mexico until the wall is completed. At no point in the process will they even be asked a question that they can say "no" to. It is in their best interest to pay for it as all of the listed options combined would wreck their economy. Remittance payments alone account for a larger portion of Mexico's GDP than their oil revenue.

Yes, but apparently you do not. A trade war is when both sides keep applying tariffs against each other in retaliation for something. That requires the participants to be relatively equal trading partners. We are not equal trading partners with either Mexico or China. Both nations need us far more than we need them. The US has the wealth to be able to take increased prices on some goods. China and Mexico do not have the wealth to deal with a massive increase in the cost of trade.

Looking at last year, China exported about 482 billion dollars worth of goods to us, over four times what they imported from us. Keep in mind that The value of the yuan is far lower than it was in 2011. Unless they want to throw a 120% tariff on American goods, they aren't going to be able to wage much of a trade war. Even if they did, assuming the article you linked is correct, they are importing a lot of food. The price of food skyrocketing would be far worse for them than the price of consumer goods rising here.
