Anonymous definitely had balls, but you're also talking about a time when things were much easier to hack and exploit. It was easier back in 2004-2005-2006 to influence things, and right about the time when they got into the whole scientology fight is really when things went downhill. FBI got ahold of several of the "top members" and now they use them to track down anyone that might still hold onto original Anonymous values.
