the american president has to work with Congress or he has virtually zero power. for one thing, Congress controls the budget and has to approve laws and appointees.

I remember Bill Maher trying to change the public perception of Socialism in an interview with Sanders. I realize that Bernie is a really bad public speaker. He may have some great ideas (thought that is up to debate) but he is terrible at convening those ideas to people that aren't already open or behind those ideas.
