It doesn't matter. People will always have the free will to choose. It's really all about lack of education, really. Most parents today don't teach their child how to cook a meal.

They are planning to do this in Canada too.

A huge bag of rice, pasta, lentils, beans, and potatoes are super cheap. Most veggies are quite cheap. These are staples that can feed the family. Also, you can be fit and still eat unhealthy foods occasionally.. in the end it comes down to calories in vs calories out.

If all you think you can afford is cheap unhealthy foods, firstly youre wrong, secondly I have news for you... if you want to lose weight continue to eat your unhealthy snacks, just eat LESS. There, i just saved you money and got you in shape. Personally I don't think we need the government to teach us how to eat, or tell us what to eat. And food prices are so high, the last thing we need is more taxes.

I am already on a budget, I buy the cheapest meat possible, in-season veggies, and large bags of rice or pasta... I simply take the time to weigh everything i eat and track how many calories i am consuming. I also run and go to the gym, shouldn't i get taxed less for being healthy and active? Couldn't we just skip all this BS and tax fat people when they are checked into the hospital for obesity relate issues? I hardly ever get to treat myself with a nice steak or whatever because its just too pricey for me... And now if i want to treat myself to a weekly chocolate bar that's going to cost more for me too? Great. ...meanwhile rapefugees in Canada are being given $66 per day food allowance..
>>

The tax on soft drinks should be proportional to the national expenditures on treating people with diabetes, costing billions of pounds.

So if every soft drink cost about 1500 quid per can, they might think twice.

Preach it Leaf.

Eating healthy is so easy and cheap.

To add to this:

Learn how to make great soups from split peas, lentils and other legumes. Eat these 3-4 times a week.

Not only will you be healthier, slimmer and have better bowel movements, you'll save a lot because eating meat more than 3 times a week is absolutely unnecessary and downright unhealthy.

Ingredients for 2-3 days worth of lentil-spinach stew cost me $9.

ITT: A bunch of statist cucks saying "thank you sir, may I haver another". I'm thin, been thin all my life, I didn't need to pay extra tax for it - and thinking this is going to reduce obesity is retarded. It's just Nanny state BS, next they will tax red meat, then eggs, then dairy. In a couple of generations the serfs will be back to eating cabbage water for every mean...and thanking Big Brother for making sure they don't get fat. Pathetic.

Also - if any people honestly think this money is going to help anybody, you're fucking naive as hell.

Social pressure would be a much stronger motivator. Other nations have similar access to shit food and drink but are not as fat. Why? Culture. Change the culture.
You can't have a society that you want to make thinner whilst simulationsly believing people shouldn't be treated differently for being fat.

Every night just has some sort of shitty quorn processed crap heaped in tomato ketchup. I honestly don't think he cooked anything before he moved out of his house.

It's the tomato ketchup that gets me. It's something I expect of an 8 year old. Just everything heaped in ketchup. If we ever go out, he demands the same restaurants and gets the exact same meal.

It's fucking bizarre to me how people can be so culinary oblivious.

It was Bloomberg and DeBlasio

They wanted to limit the size of soft drinks sold in places like fast food restaraunts and convenience stores, so the largest size available would be 16oz (compare to some places like 7-Eleven having shit like 40oz cups)

Speaking of this at Starbucks they don't have small (8oz) size drinks anymore unless you ask. A small drink is a fucking secret item in America.

No, it's not. If I want to drink a sugarfree drink I have far less choices. Most drinks are sugar bombs. I just wish they would make a general sugar tax (sugar in chocolates, sugar in candies, sugar in cookies). Sugar is a poison and the tax is probably cheaper than the healthcare costs I must pay for people with caries, diabetes and overweight.

My stepmom is worse, she LITERALLY does not eat meals. She will only eat snackfood that comes in prepackaged containers or the like. A typical day for her would be peanut butter, a muffin, slices of cheese, chips, crackers, cake.

No, it isn't.
You'd need to ingest literally 4.5 POUNDS of sugar in a single sitting in order for you to have a 50% chance of dying.

Compare this to, say, Vodka.
Drinking 2 450 ml bottles of vodka would kill you outright.

If it's poison, it's a very poor choice of poison.

Wrong.

Fat people die early and don't suck up two decades of geriatric care. Over their lifetime they will cost significantly less than a healthy person because they spend 3 years seriously ill and then die at 60 instead of requiring around-the-clock care from 70-90 like a healthy person typically does.

So, if anyone should be getting taxed more, it's you.
