Should the voting age be raised to 21 with the exception for those in military service?

I only ask because I imagine most virgin voters in the US don't have enough life experience and perspective to decide who should run the country.
>>
>>67594652
Yeah, this isnt going to happen, there would be a massive shitstorm
>I only ask because I imagine most virgin voters in the US don't have enough life experience and perspective to decide who should run the country.
slipper slope
>>
>>67595892
Slippery slope? Vs what? Free reign for anyone to vote?

1 person = 1 vote is an absolutely rediculious concept in the first place. Why the fuck does everyone get them same say when some people obviously contribute more than others to our republic?
>>
Age shouldn't matter as long as one is legally an adult, but only land owners should be able to vote.
>>
Yeah the true solution to save our democratic republic is to make it less democratic

regardless of your views on this, it's a pipedream. I'll be damned before I let the government take the right to vote from 18-21, even if they're dumb kids voting for bernie
thats not freedom, anons
>>
>>67596743
American is hardly democratic. Half the state's delegates aren't obligated to vote for whichever nominee the people voted for. And the electoral college doesn't have to vote to either, if they can't decide then it is by the House of Reprepsentives. The people's vote only counts as a partial influence.

No. But if you are still in high school when your 18, you shouldn't vote.
>>
The value of your vote should be based on your GDP contribution
>>
>>67594652
No you should only vote if you make 250k because then your probably actually contributing something to society faggot.
>>
>>67594652
>bump up to 21
Yes. Maybe 20.
>military age discount
No. Fuck no. Why would knowing how to shoot people give you more knowledge about the economy, internal policies, and general politics? That's really stupid.
>>
The vote should be taken away from women. That would move the country massively to the right and back to sanity.
>>
>>67596591

The point of Democracy is that the people are in control of their destiny, for better or worse. It's not about making the best decisions.

If you want a system where the most qualified and responsible people make the decisions, you're looking for a Constitutional Monarchy.

35 would be a better number. And male. And positive net worth. And fuck the military - that should be irrelevant. None of those fucks are net taxpayers. They take far more than they ever pay.

Voting should only be allowed if you a contributing member of society. The ability to vote for mo dem gimmedats is fucking stupid and detrimental to the country.

>>
>>67594652
Just because you are older doesn't mean you are wise or have any knowledge whatsoever about who should run the country. A majority of the people dont even research their candidates before they vote anyways. People of all ages are brainwashed.

Only people with more than 40 years old, earning a certain quantity of money per year(should be regulares by law, since there are factors that could change this quantity), married and with children, since childless people have no reason to think in the future and non-married people with children are hedonists
>>
>>67597051
I really don't see why people who don't own land should be able to vote.

18 year old landowners are fine to vote.
>>
>>67594652
Wasn't the voting age only lowered to 18 in the first place because of the draft?
A draft which no longer exists....

>>
>>67597908
Most constitutional democracy is exactly the same as a democracy, except that they could use their monarchs as tourism
>>
>>67594652
Yes.

In general, serving your country should lower age restrictions and people should be able to serve their country and get legal adult status 3 years before the norm if service is completed honourably (and at full length in draft countries)
>>
>>67599019
That's the opposite.

People that would be sent to war cant have a opinion in that. They're just flesh, they only do what their officers say.
>>
>>67601262

If you're thinking of England, their monarchy has been neutered. They effectively are a democracy like America.
>>
>>67601470
The Queen is the world's largest landowner.
>>
i don't think it should be changed at all. in fact, even though i don't think this is very likely, the case could be made that it could be lowered to 16 because they're allowed to join the work force at that age, and you could allow 15 year olds to vote in the primaries if they turn 16 before election day.

you can't just keep someone from voting because YOU, PERSONALLY do not think that someone has "enough experience" to be able to vote. it's a slippery slope because it then allows people to start selecting which people should be able to vote, probably due to their own preferences.
>>
>>67601470
That's how almost all constitutional monarchies end.

First they took the legitimacy right of absolute rule from the King, then they make him useless with time.

UK started in that. Nobles stole the power and with time the power passed to "people"
>>
>>67600931
It still exists. Don't you have a draft registration card?

Renters obviously would not get a vote, and why should they? You pay rent in exchange for the chance to stay on property someone else owns without being disturbed. That isn't worthy of privileges beyond gracious permission to stay on the property.

None of that, I just heard that from the last volume Yui won. Might well just be a rumor though, since Yukinoshita is the main girl so her losing would be a bit surprising.

Personally, I'm more a fan of Sensei, 8mouto and Sakisaki, but we all know they have no chance. Neutral as far as Yukinon and Yui are concerned.

Congratulations billionaires now have direct influence over politics and literally nothing can stop them under your system
>>
I think voting should be limited to people with phds, otherwise you get a bunch of people using a tool founded on the virtues of enlightenment who aren't even enlightened.
>>
>>67609489
billionaires are smart enough to have made billions of dollars and lots of jobs, they actually know what they are doing in the economy, so I'm okay with this
>>
>>67594652
Bump it up to 30. Even fresh out of college students are still heavy on the brainwashing. Wait some years for the brainwashing to wear off (if it wears off) and them being exposed to the real world.

Most of the undesirables would either fail before they hit their 30s, so they'd face obstacles when voting (being homeless, etc.). You want to disenfranchise them, so let the real world weed them out and only the worthy shall get the right to vote - those who actually made it and are paying taxes.
