Maybe their quality of life overall is better than ours. I saw a doc about a Scandi who murdered some people with a chainsaw. He's in a similar prison island, with a comfy farm and, ironically, a sawmill. He even gets something like two weeks of "leave" a year to go stroll around as a free man.
