I actually remember the 80's...aids was always something that could affect anybody, it just spreads more easily among gays and junkies, and we didn't really know anything about it for awhile.
I learned that it was more then a gay cancer when a lady came to our school and discussed how her husband caught it cheating on her and gave it to her, we were genuinely surprised to learn that it was possible to catch through hetrosexual sex, or tainted blood.
