Yea well people ask me if I understand theoretical physics. I tell them I have a theoretical degree in physics and then they shut up.

What kind of meme degree is this or is this some sort of anglo thing to allow your engineers to call themselves civil engineers without a master's degree?
>>
>>67485688
wait doesnt a major in civil engineering make you a civil engineer
>>

No, we don't need Masters' qualifications to be considered registered professional engineers. However, that is one way to approach the requirements for becoming an RPEng. There are other routes, some of which I'm working on. So no, I'm not an RPEng yet, but I'm working on it.

You think it's not as good as any of the other unis in the sandstone club?
>>

We have no such thing as a "civil engineer" (or at least I've never came across it) subject you can major in. A "Civil engineer" is someone with an engineering degree, and that's basically a master of science in engineer.

The closest would be what we call for "High school engineers", requiring a bachelor of technology.
>>
>>67485688
Its an Anglo thing. Your bachelor degrees are stupid as fuck. I'm studying Accountancy (Bachelor of Business major in Accounting) and like 80% of my degree is made up of accounting subjects. I was looking into studying in the EU because its free and I'm a dual national, all of the degrees are bullshit outside of the UK. Over there I'd have to go BBA > Master of Accounting, or go through a hochschule and be unable to even do a masters if I ever wanted. Here you literally study your major instead of fucking around taking bullprepping 101 in your third year BA.

I am impressed by how you are not in another country
>>
>>67486158
In the last 10 years it has famously plummeted in standards
>>
>>67486436
Oh. Well, that's disappointing.

Glad I have a job, then. I can build experience and make the degree itself less significant on my resume relative to my actual work experience.

Lol good point

A "civil engineer" is the same as 'Byggingenjör'. It is NOT the same as "civilingenjör"
