Should intelligent animals like Orcas and Dolphins have more rights?

Absolutely. But where do you draw the line when it comes to intelligence? If I recall correctly, pigs are just as smart, if not smarter than dogs and chimpanzees. We treat them very inhumanely.

How is it a joke when it's true? Just because niggers are close enough to us and have vocal chords similar to ours what makes them special compared to Elephants, Dolphins and Gorillas which all have higher measured intelligence then them? So of course these hyper intelligent animals should have at least some basic rights. Personally I'm all for the movement to an entirely vegetarian diet with things like shrimp and most types of fish being okay to eat. In the future though I'm quite certain farming will become obsolete and food will be like some kind of 3d printed cloning tech/replicator or something in which point farming of animals will be seen as a barbaric act that our great grand kids will look back with the same disgust most people look back to slavery.
What we need to do is breed these animals to become more intelligent so we can finally get a small sample size of them that can speak/communicate with humans in some way and understand how they feel and think. Imagine how fucking cool it would be if these animals could be given missions and report back to base, or be sent along with divers to explore underwater places, or if they were read poetry and given their opinions on it, or any number of other cool or interesting shit.

We shouldn't keep Orcas in captivity. Dolphins tend to do well in captivity because they're smaller and more social with humans. Orcas get frustrated and have killed trainers, and captivity is just not good for their health (see the drooping dorsal fins).
It's like Indian elephants vs African Elephants. Indian Elephants can be trained and be friendly with humans, African elephants don't do as well in captivity so they shouldn't be kept in captivity (aside from like wildlife reserves where they're free range but in a protected area)
It all boils down to how well they do in captivity. If captivity is stressful for them and unhealthy to the point of being dangerous for human caretakers (they get angry and take it out on them) then maybe not such a good idea.
I think with the most intelligent animals that we could keep in captivity safely and in a way that's healthy for them (Dolphins, Great Apes, Indian Elephants), effort should be taken to help meet their emotional and intellectual needs. I mean they have a hierarchy of needs just like humans, if their basic survival needs are met, then they move on to emotional needs, if those are met, then they need intellectual needs met.
Teach them things, play games with them, that keeps their mind engaged and makes them happier. You can teach a dolphin math, you can teach great apes sign language, you can teach an elephant to paint or to play a piano (they won't be playing chopin any time soon but they do like to investigate different keys making different sounds)

main thing we need to realize with great apes is that you can't just feed them and keep them in a cage. That works for less intelligent animals but the more intelligent ones (Elephants, Dolphins/Whales, Great Apes) need mental stimulation or they don't do as well or act out.
You CAN have a happy Orangutan in captivity, but you need to engage their brain and keep them occupied.
I kind of wonder how Orangutans/Apes who act in commercials and movies and TV shows do healthwise and psychologically. Is it bad for them or good for them? On the one hand you're teaching them a role and they're interacting with humans.. but on the other hand they might get frustrated with doing multiple takes.
