Communism=stateless society where everyone is conditioned to take only that which they need and provide appropriately, it requires a post scarcity society.
Socialism=welfare state cradle to grave, allocations made most likely by a dictator or presidents.
Democratic socialism=welfare state cradle to grave, allocations made via democratic vote, liable to change via mass vote or through elected officials depending.
They are all inefficient and all not very viable in a truly long term fashion.
