It's basically a Conservative circlejerk with strawman arguments.

So it's perfect for /pol/

Prager is a propaganda site intended to softly but specifically introduce conservative concepts and ideas to college students. to perceive it as anything else might be a mistake...

Gonna need some proof on that son. It's a pretty big circle jerk.

Proof for what? That they aren't circle jerking eachother? Well the proof is that they are open to new ideas.

I actually really enjoy watching some of their videos but in the end it really is just the conservative counterpart to all the liberal shit in colleges which I would welcome there to be more of because there needs to at least be a balance between the two instead of some 99 to 1 ratio (pulled out of my ass)
>>
>>67407779
Is this that absurdly dumb channel with that nonsense "why modern art isn't as good as the paintigs that I like and also please buy my book :DDDD" video?

If so, then no.

Modern Artist detected.
>>
>>67412352
you stated >>67411921
that they are not neocons and has never used a strawman ever (which is just pants-on-head in terms of provability). this chap >>67412076
asked for proof. you then state they are open to no ideas >>67412184
which is just an assertion on your part.

to prove they are not neocons you'd have to give examples and/or demonstarations that support your point/assertion.

does truth work differently in Canada?
>>
>>67413164
Ok they support smaller countries. Neocons want a big fascist state.

>Modern Artist
>in the year of our Lord 1920 + 96

Like most people who dismiss modernism on principle, you pretty clearly don't know shit about art.

Art Deco is the only good modern art i can think of.
>>

>because you definitely do

>>67413276
that is another assertion.

here, check this out:

Assertion: Prager University has an online presence that can be accessed by people with an internet connection

Proof: https://www.prageru.com/

Assertion: Canadians are generally not good at stuff

Proof: this thread

one of this is a factually supported assertion, and one is not.
>>
>>67413724
Okay, but with a comment like that, you're pretty clearly evaluating based on personal taste and preference, and not any real understanding of the theory of art, of criticism, of context, or of how technique has evolved.

You should give the less accessible stuff a shot, anon. There's very cool work out there.

Who founded it? Prager is a Christian.
>>
>>67414454
I think expressionism is a great place to start, because people like Kirchner and Nolde have this fantastic focus on strange angles, jarring views, and painterliness. It's striking, bizarre, and really exemplifies the idea that art functions as expression rather than image capturing.

Kandinsky and Mondrian are two other favorites of mine, both of whom would be great to look into.
>>
>>67415270
Are you an artist or something? How do you know all this?
>>
>>67407779
Come on /pol/ please have a bit more respect for yourselves, you deserve better than this shitty ass channel, even if you do agree with their views.
>>
>>67413419

I don't dismiss modernism but I certainly dismiss postmodernism. Postmodernism is a cancer on the world. It's the Communism of art.

They've made a few vids with good points at least. A lot of their stuff is pretty bad though.

Are you being sarcastic? Because that genuinely wasn't that much.

If you're being sincere: You don't have to be an artist to be interested in art history, anon.

Please take a look at this graph, from a video from that channel on Modern Art. Regardless of your opinion on the subject if your reaction to this image is anything other than "oh god what manner of idiot made that" and you genuinely can't see what's wrong with this and every other argument on that channel then I'm sorry but I don't believe you should even have an opinion on anything on grounds of mental deficiency.

Kadinsky and Mondrian are GOAT, fuck all plebs who say otherwise.
>>
>>67407863
Its helpful not to make a strawman argument while calling someone out on their strawman argument. Otherwise even if you're correct you'll look silly.
>>
>>67415270
>fantastic focus on strange angles, jarring views, and painterliness.
implying formal art doesn't have that

wew
>>
>>67415672
You know, I think I actually agree with you, to an extent. Postmodernism has produced some really cool stuff, but the deeper psychological impact it's left has made sincerity unfashionable. And that's really shit, I think.

>>67416860
I like you, anon.

>>67417081
>formal art

You realize painterliness is pretty much the exact opposite of formal line creation, right? To say nothing about the existence of a formal propensity for weird, stylized angles, or for scenes that are basically just abstract expressions of emotion (I'm pretty sure there isn't one of either; though I'd be really happy to be proven wrong, since that sounds like it'd be pretty cool).

Furthermore, it's the combination of all three that I said made Nolde and Kirchner (and expressionism in general) interesting.
>>
>>67418289
>abstract expressions of emotion

Meant to say "abstracted" expressions of emotion, not "abstract."
>>
>>67407779
i've been listening to Prager for years, but i feel betrayed because of his hatred of Trump. Same thing for Michael Medved. They've both turned out to be establishment shills. Both are real smart jews though.
>>
>>67418289
>painterliness
meaningless modern art term. there are visible brush strokes in formal art, just get close to the painting.

> weird, stylized angles, or for scenes that are basically just abstract expressions of emotion
there is emotion in formal art, not sure how you got the impression there isn't
>>
>>67418802
What are you trying to argue here? That older art is also good? Because I don't think anyone implyed otherwise.
>>
>>67418802
>visible brush strokes in formal art, just get close to the painting.

Yeah, no shit. But the point of painterliness is that the lines are distorted and you don't need to get close to see the marks. They're there.

>not sure how you got the impression there isn't

I'm not sure how you got the impression that I have that impression. My emphasis was pretty clearly on abstraction, not on emotion.

Like this anon said: >>67418886, the point isn't that formal art is bad. The point is that it's moronic to categorically dismiss modern art.
