Honestly Nova Scotia is pretty similar to Ireland, only with worse bantz.
Also, the culture of Nova Scotia hasn't been as bastardized and commodified as Ireland's has. Sure, there's a lot of poor white trash failed longshoremen, but none of it feels like the Guinness and leprechaun bullshit Ireland's tourism department has plastered everywhere.
Plus you can walk into any given bar on the weekend and odds are you'll hear a Stan Rogers song that everyone will sing along with. Nova Scotia is pretty comfy.

I've traveled all over eastern Canada, and Nova Scotia was my favorite province by far. Great seafood, fantastic natural beauty, and Halifax is a neat little city. The place isn't full of trashy minorities. Hopefully it stays that way.
