What does /pol/ think about chess?
Does /pol/ play it and tips on how to get better?
Is it the most based game?
Why do a good amount of political masterminds like Lenin and Napoleon play chess?

it's definitely more complicated, but less aesthetic. Go is a game with no individualism, where every stone is as good or as bad as another one. In chess, even pawns have different levels of importance. It's a lot more European because it excels in promoting individuality.
>>
>>67375708
Chess can take a lot of time to become proficient in. It's mostly just accruing enough knowledge to be able to take good decisions quickly and training yourself to stay focused and limit the number of mistakes you make per game.
>>

>it excels in promoting individuality
Which has brought us insanity like "I identify as a differently-abled otherkin".

Go fish is a better game.

I've been playing chess for the past few months. I was looking for another strategy game to play, but every single one was casual dice-rolling garbage, so I started playing chess. I'm glad I did; This is way more fun than raging at a computer for giving me the wrong random numbers.

>Does /pol/ play it and tips on how to get better?
Few basic tips can be found on youtube videos. Get your minor pieces developed early, try for center control, don't bring your queen out to early.

It is good to know the common openings too. Not so you can use them, but so you can know what to expect when your opponent does.

If you are playing people you are much better than, or who are much better than you, it is a waste of time. Play honestly and try to play against people close to your rating.

The queen's gambit is very fun to play. There are traps that occur quickly if your opponent is inexperienced with it. I recommend thechesswebsite's video about it on youtube.
>>
There's no more innovation in chess. It's all about memorizing moves and punishing your opponent when they can't remember the correct move. Pretty boring.

It's a game that people like to play to seem smarter than others. Those same people like to think they are good strategists because they play chess. What they don't understand is that chess is a predefined game in that both players have the same pieces and the same amount of pieces and they know when each player makes a move.

When it comes to conflict, nothing is equal and nothing is truly known until it happens. Want to know how to make chess a truly challenging game? Both players can't see the other side of the board and each player has different pieces and different amount of pieces. If one can beat an opponent that way, they might be someone special.

It's not about beating the computer, it is about improving, competing against others, understanding concepts and finding beauty, my african-south american friend.

It's like saying running is shit because you can also go by car.

Are there any tabletop war strategy games where this is the case? Like Battleship, but on a bigger scale and with a few adjustments?

The fun part is in beating another human being. Knowing that your tactics, decision making and intellect are better than another persons is something you do not get playing a computer. If you can't understand the benefits of playing chess then you are most likely too retard to be playing it in the first place.
