You can also argue that non-state actors are incredibly important (ISIL, global corporations, etc.). Another good point relates to #3, the fact that devolution and supranationalism are on the rise (the former in Spain, Kurdistan; the latter in the EU).

I remember in college I once wrote an essay saying that steroids should be legal, and the liberal male professor marked it down to hell to back. I specifically remember him writing at the end "What about all the people who took steroids and regret it?" in red ink.
