How come people were better looking back in the day?
It's not just obesity, their aesthetics are genuinely superior.
Back in the day you actually had to tidy yourself up before going out in public and not go to wall mart in sweatpants
homogeneous breeding
Because people selectively remember the past

The food was less shit, people were healthier and thinner.

They were a lot hairier, down there. Yuck!
It's all styling, mang. Go to Tumblr - wear protective clothing if you must - and look for photoshoots of modern celebrities in retro clothing.

This.
The spread of postmodernism, basically.

I genuinely believe this is the answer. So many miscegenated Americans with disproportionate physical features.

No way man. Girls tidy up all the time. Not necessarily in a dress but they're still wearing make-up and have their hair done. They still look like shit by comparison to pictures of people I see pre-1950's. Not even just skin or airbrushing but their bone and facial structure is shit.

Women used to wear way more makeup before leaving the house, dude.

This.
Film was expensive and they didn't waste it on ugly people.

Certain celebs pull it off nicely. MEW is one, another is Kelly Brook

This is true but this is not all of it.
Sure we remember the photo that was carefully prepared for, showing immaculate grooming, the best clothes etc. and don't necessarily remember what they looked like 2 hours before covered in grime from doing real work.
But people cared more then too. We've become a very slobbish culture. Many of us don't ever really clean up anymore.
And yes there's an aesthetic difference clear in clothing for instance. Modern clothing designers are the most dreary, imagination-less drones that you could hope for. It's very sad really.

Yeah, it's a mystery. It's almost like there was some sort of social norm that people followed, concerning conduct and hygeine. Not like these enlightened times, where everyone gets to dress like hobos and look like cooked shit.
>grandparents happily married for 50+ years
>look at wedding picture of grandparents
>they are both super aesthetic
>tfw I'll never be happily married for 50 years in this modern world
>>67229591
1960s counter culture was the end of elegance and the beginning of social degeneracy.

That hairdo probably took her awhile to put together, not to mention make up. Its not genetics or anything, people just used to give more of a shit about how they looked in public back in the day
