That was Johnson who said that.
Look up Democratic Plantation.

The fun fact is, Republicans wanted to end slavery, Democrats didnt, things have changed and Democrats have lied about shit until the lie is truth.
Democrats also started the fucking KKK, and now its viewed as a republican thing.

Yeah, Sanders is actually more moderate than FDR. He'd never establish a massive federal works programs or empower the NLRB to ensure unions are able to legitimately engage in collective bargaining. Sanders is awesome and all, but his proposals don't go nearly as far as the new deal, or even Truman's Fair Deal.

Shame, really. Truman is one of the best presidents of the 20th century.

>>
>>67214017
FDR was not a Democratic Socialist
His policies were no where close to Sanders', and the only reason he helped the economy is because he was intelligent and started mass public production projects to provide jobs to build things that the population needed

Why do leftists only look at the most broad of things before looking any deeper?

If you knew even the first thing about American history you'd understand that the Democratic party began to include black voters first during the New Deal, and then later with state-level and eventually federal support for Civil Rights legislation. After the Democratic party split at the 1948 convention and the Dixiecrats formally separated themselves from the Liberal wing of the party, they were gradually subsumed by the Republican party, which began to court segregationist policies in addition to their traditional laissez faire economic approach.

Everybody knows the Democratic party was the party of the Ku Klux Clan, and of lynchings, and of all kinds of horrible things in the South. The Republicans in congress were the only good guys after the civil war, vehemently advocating for harsh punishment for traitors and stiff penalties before states could be readmitted to the Union. But the status quo in the 19th century is not the same thing as the status quo today, because things change over the course of time, even if they keep the same name.

He also illegally elected judges to the supreme court, how #progressive it is to undermine democracy while calling yourself a democratic communist.

How is this a good thing?

Even the shit cunt Bill Maher says that the parties have switched sides, and with good reason, sucker blacks into welfare and keep them in check and let them fund the country another way.

So how do you fund an country on blacks? EASY!
>Keep blacks stupid and on welfare.
>Keep them in prison.
>MO MUNY FO DEM PROGRAMS!
and you got yourself a good o PLANTATION OF VOTERS!

they wanted that for the Hispanics too but a lot of them are to fucking woke for that shit.

While entering the war certainly did put an end to the Great Depression (because the government was given the ability to intervene directly in the private sector) FDR didn't "get involved to get out of a depression", we were dragged into the war by a surprise attack. The need to shift to a total war footing had the collateral effect of economic revitalization, it wasn't the point of it. The point was to win.
>>
>>67215175

Nice meme, Grandma. How did you figure out an imageboard?
>>
>>67215332
I also feel like I should point out that southern redeemers (all democrats) in the 1860s and 1870s used this exact same logic when depriving black people of the vote, claiming that they would all vote Republican because they funded the Freedman's bureau and other programs that assisted freed slaves.

They were right, because no shit, people often vote for their interests and the half-baked Julius Streicher wannabes like you alienate anyone who doesn't already agree with your racist worldview.
>>
>>67214133
Plus he created the unsustainable system that is social security.
>>
>>67214699
Checked. However, the Democratic Party still vehemently opposed Civil Rights legislation compared to the Republicans. Look at the breakdown of the Civil Rights Act voting and later measures (there used to be a cool infographic floating around).

I don't know of anyone who denies party switching to some extent, but it was no where near as large as people make it out to be, because many stayed within the Democratic Party.

Yes good advice. Allow deflation and unemployment to get worse until all the poor people are dead and look! Economy fixed!

Face it Austrians/Libretardians/Ancaps, your ideology sucks and your historical revisionism won't change that.
>>
>>67215124
The Dems are still the racist party, if anything they just switched from mongering the fears whites had of blacks to fomenting the blacks fears of white power.

There was just one single politician that switched sides, and I don't think he lasted long. Where did all those racist democrats go? They got old and died. Which president said they'd have niggers voting democrat for a hundred years?

>ura racist if you dont share my world view.
Am I Hitler too? Should I be scared about a twitter campaign to bully me to tears?

I am so sorry that Johnson gave away the fucking SECRET TO DEMOCRATS while taking a shit one day and shooting his mouth off.

>The Dems are still the racist party, if anything they just switched from mongering the fears whites had of blacks to fomenting the blacks fears of white power.

Whatever your strange, distorted interpretation of racism is, and setting aside your hilarious assertion that legislative imposition of civil rights reforms and the establishment (and later, gutting, in the late 90s) of the weakest social safety net in the western world is somehow "fomenting fears of black power", at least you understand that they switched their position in a fundamental, undeniable way.

>>67216781
>Am I Hitler too? Should I be scared about a twitter campaign to bully me to tears?

Again, nice meme. Very spicy and original. Regarding the Johnson quote, it is certainly consistent with the racist language he (unsurprisingly, being a southerner from the first half of the 20th century) used, but pointing to it and pretending he is a racist despite being instrumental in advancing some of the most concrete civil rights gains in American history is pretty absurd.
>>
>>67215976
Everyone knew the Japanese were going to attack somewhere, in some capacity, but Pearl Harbor was a genuine surprise and the departure of the carriers was a fluke.
>>
>>67215964
Right, but it wasn't the entire democratic party, nor was the entire Republican party in favor of Civil Rights. The party switch was a slow process that certainly involved some strange confluence between the conservative wing of the democratic party and the Republicans.

>>

the only thing that prolonged the depression was when he tried to cut spending after growth resumed, then there was another recession, then he started spending more and it ended for good.

libertarians are totally ahistorical and economically illiterate. people need to stop falling for it.
>>
>>67217860

Lemme guess. You think 'institutional racism' is a thing, right? Even though it's WAY easier for an inner-city black kid to get a free ride to college who really just cares about having the latest jawdinz, peddling drugs, and possessing illegally acquired arms.

You'd have to be blind to not see the ass kissing and posturing peddled by the democratic left to 'urban communities'.

Kek your privilege plebbit.
>>
FDR got America INTO WW2 by knowingly baiting the Japanese into attacking by putting them into an impossible situation. Every American death in WW2 is on his hands.
>>
>>67218666

What was so based about him? Honest question, he's always seemed to be a footnote in academic context; at least at the shitty section 8 schools I went to. any legitimate accomplishments glazed over.
>>
>>67214017

I feel like Bernie is just manipulating his voter base. He keeps saying he's going to fund everything and make everything free but has no real way of paying for any of it. With a population of 330 million, how can he afford to get health care for them all? Imagine if you gave each person $3 each, thats almost $1 billion right there. With $1000 each, thats $330 billion and I'd imagine health care would cost more than that for each person. Throw in his promise to socialize college and this shit becomes even more ridiculous. Is he playing Jew tricks?
>>

He's selling pies in the sky, rainbows, cake and sunshine. Oh and victimhood.

>>67219068

So he promises the world and can't make any of it happen and then asks for massive amounts of donations from his young and impressionable followers in order to fund his failing campaign. Tell me again why this guy is respected at all? His plan is to literally throw money at every problem without care for how he's going to raise it.

Because the message resonates with the 18-25 crowd, which these days, equates to the least amount of life and work experience. Anyone who has ever worked retail knows what kind of cheap trash the word 'free' draws, especially when in big letters.

Younger folks in the US are also WAY easier to convince that they're being oppressed worse than Sharia compliant governments.

Fucker is basically Nader 2.0. Except Sanders hasn't done anything useful - Nader is largely responsible for why seatbelts are a thing.

>great depression lasted 15 years instead of 2-3 years because of Roosevelt
>he intentionally instigated japan into a war so he could invade SE Asia and Europe to pull us out of depression through imperial conquest.
>wanted to nuke the slant eyes because he was a racist but sadly he died before the A-Bombs were finished
>truman gave the order because it was roosevelts final directive
>gave Soviet Union millions in aide during the war which turned stalin into and even more horrible threat to the world than hitler ever was and as a result of his war machine being built up by roosevelt hundreds of millions of people died under despotic soviet rule until the empire collapsed in '91
>almost became a dictator intentionally using fear of a non-existent german invasion across the atlantic to scare the populace in into re-electing him

FDR was probably the worst president in history or at least tied with Lincoln who pushed the tariffs that started the civil war
