So females entering the workforce along with globalization means that workers today compete with a vastly larger labor pool than they did 50 or 60 years ago. As such, jobs are much more stressful and harder to find than they used to be. My question is, are there any fields you can enter where stress is low but standard of living is still decent? I'm much more interested in lower hours and comfy lifestyle than wealth.

May not be comfy but I got my first job I love right out of college last year.

I'm a wildlife removal specialist, basically a super-animal control for a private company.

Not one person on my team is female while our reception center is nearly entirely female.

They are also paid vastly less than us, mostly because their positions don't require a STEM degree and they don't encounter bears, panthers and snake on a daily basis.

It's that fact that makes me love the job, female free work team, lots of exciting and new animal encounters, baby foxes sometimes.

It's nice.

Not only that, the women men have to compete with have special laws to make sure they get a certain number of those available jobs.

Was originally looking for a position as an EPA consultant because my forte is field research.

Ended up being a dead end to nowhere, tried land a few other lab jobs to avail until one of the companies I applied to recommended me for a completely different job within their own system.

That ended up being the best job I've ever had.

Learning the ropes and how to deal with individual animals was the harshest part me.

The most difficult lesson to learn was that each animal has to be dealt with in a completely different way, not just by species.

Some animals that are normal docile can get aggressive and vice versa. You never know.

There was one situation, where a large black bear we had tranquilized and captured was being released back into the wild, normally with bears we do what's called an 'active release', meaning we don't tranquilize them again when releasing.

Most times, black bears will quickly scamper off, however this one, as soon as we raised the cage gate wheeled around and went after a guy on our team, biting into his jacket and straight up dragging him off, though he was tranquilized the second he turned around, even though the bear showed little to no anxiousness when caged.

We don't do 'active releases' anymore.

Still though, had their been a female on the team, I'm not sure she'd have the reaction or grit to deal with a bear attack or to quickly save someone who did.
