People by now especially in America have lived without war and benefitted from peace, law and order for so long that most would be easily cowed or just try to extricate themselves from any side or affiliation. And then when Trump is inevitably assassinated (because it's bound to happen, unless he spends his entire presidency in an underground bunker), that's when calls for secession will become more common.
