There is literally no way to fight that fight. The moment you try something you will have false statements made against you, proceed to be demonized, then ruined. This is not the land of the free anymore.

The same technique was being used against police the last two years. Any time a person was defending himself with a gun, entire armies were mobilized to enforce the narrative that the victim was to blame, while the aggressor was the victim. This led to black-on-white hate crimes across the country, none of which were reported.
It took a war hero being beaten outside a McDonalds for national media to report on it. Still, it was hardly in the news for a few days. No one cared.

Very obvious. We usually don't even get the context of what was said before the scuffle, and the MSM edits the video to fit their narrative.
On a tangent, I was listening to the CPD stream during the riot earlier, and a frantic cop was calling for backup - protesters were climbing into the parking garage and smashing cars with bats and hammers. Two hours later, Don Lemmon said "These were not violent protesters" with a straight face. Even CNN's headlines and related links give the impression that this was just another instance of Trump riling people up.
