Terrible job market (in urban areas, not awful in the middle of nowhere), over abundance of new graduates every year (40k +\-), with small projected growth in the industry overall in the next ten years. I've got friends from great schools who couldn't land any type of job in the legal industry. Basically, student loans ruined law schools -- people who have no business being there are going because the government pays for it.
Also, the big firms hire less associates, and opt for contracting out work for pennies on the dollar to contract attorneys. Bad stuff. I'm jumping ship myself, don't like what I see.
I mean if you want to be an attorney in the U.S., just do some due diligence about the industry here before you come here so you can make an informed decision.
