I love a chimpout as much as anyone else. Some people say it was a calculated move by Trump to win Illinois. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't, but it's not good folks.
The movement Trump managed to build this campaign is the dream of every politician. The resolve of his supporters is multiplied tonight. HOWEVER, in doing so, he has galvanized his opposition as much as his support. This opposition is not yet rallied to a definitive opponent but all the signs are out there that the "anti-Trump" movement is very real. Remember the extremely high turnout in Iowa? Trump lost—the turnout was against him, not for him. Remember the extremely high turnout in Louisiana? Trump barely won, the people who supported other candidates mobilized big league.
So obviously, it's safe to say Donald Trump is the ultimate controversial candidate and will be studied as such in the history books. Exciting times for sure. But his opposition shouldn't be discounted, it is already potent and we haven't even started the general yet. Some level of controversy is often beneficial, but having 30-40% of the general public literally hating your guts enough to riot isn't. What we're seeing tonight in Chicago is a sign of the total chaos to come if and when Donald Trump wins the nomination—and most observers know this. Which brings me to say: undecided Republicans who might have been leaning Trump will probably be turned off by what they see tonight, normies don't like chaos, violence, and anarchy, they'll get scared and therefore not vote Trump in Ohio and Florida. That's just for the primaries!
I honestly don't see how Trump gets out of this one in the long term. Think about this, a candidate for the office of the President can't even get into the second or third largest city in the country without sparking actual riots. This is a /pol/ dream but for regular Joes and Janes, it's a total think-twice. Most of them will go the safe route and vote for the cuck Hillary...
