Most societies became agrarian a long time ago my burger friend. Hunting is rarer than you would think, it depends on the area but it basically goes like this both will work a farm while the man will sell at market when they have a crop in an rural area. In an urban setting men work construction while woman will work in sweatshop
This is by no means the hard and fast rule but it's how most societies that are slowly being brought into the current century function.
Obviously this doesn't take into account people in government posistion's and the wealthy.

Wealth at the moment is a wider societal goal that has created some competition in a manner similar to feudalism, but at least it's not nearly as gory. btw no one ever talks about genocides, and rarely do people survive and have people to tell.
In capitalism, it's not just "hard work", that's actually some distant, meritocratic/technocratic ideal, but rather from understanding the rules and attempting to accommodate for what society wants and will reward/value.
For those poor African (or south American, which is how their dress looks) their society can't reward them as much as other societies, so their incremental rewards seem meaningless and trivial to people who think nothing of dropping 700 on a phone.
