He is a complex character, aND even he himself admits he doesn't have a good basis for a lot of his arguments, other than it seems right to him.
His Nig pass card stems from low self esteem because his real dad was a piece of shit, and he grew up as a quasi white trash guy. He doesn't want to be an ego maniac even though he is, and tries to moderate that by telling himself that other people could have done the same as him if they had the opportunity.

I still like him, but I detest his attitude on this subject. He is utterly lacking in self praise because he shamelessly abandoned his buds and did shitty stuff to get a great career & he likes to pretend that everyone would have made the sacrifices he made.
Bullshit.
He's accountable for all the smart shit & stupid selfish shit he's done and no one calls him out on it because he deflects responsibility away from himself.
He is not a walking talking reaction to an environment. He is a part of that environment & he has done shit & he should man the fuck up and consider himself accountable. And then he should apply that way of thinking to other people and get his socio-political views in line with that.
