And the thing is, it's ALWAYS worked. They've always been able to browbeat the competition into submission by screaming RACIST SEXIST HOMOPHOBIC BIGOT! In fact, it basically works like a flow chart. They start with milder ones (he's mean! he's disrespectful!) and then they move on to bigger ones (he's sexist!) then bigger ones (he's racist!) and their ultimate weapon-of-last-resort is calling someone OMG LITERALLY HITLER. And what will generally happen is at some point the person they're browbeating will try to capitulate and compromise with them in order for them to stop saying their mean words. That is how the GOP has become so cucked; republicans have compromised and compromised on so many things that they're all just democrats in disguise now. And the hilarious part is that DOING SO DOESN'T EVEN STOP LIBERALS FROM SCREAMING AT YOU ANYWAY. Take McCain and Romney, for example. Some of the most moderate RINOs imaginable, specifically picked because they had soft images and would be more "appealing" to the liberals. Guess what? They did all the same shit anyway. They know that they would immediately disown their candidate if someone with a higher privilege powerlevel called them an Xist or Nazi, so they don't understand why other people wouldn't.
Neither do they realise that they and the media spouting blatant hyperbole and quote mining only serves to draw people towards him should they actually look at his words, in their original context, for themselves.
Ironically, many people trust Trump far more than is healthy simply because they know just how shamelessly biased many outlets are against him, and the left just doesn't get it.
