Can we all agree that "liberty" is the GOAT political theory that we should eventually hope to strive towards in the future?
I feel this way. I understand that the libertarian party isn't viewed in as positive a light as it once was on this board, and I'd like to figure out why.
Can anyone convince me, with solid evidence, that statism and authoritarianism lead to more success than libertarianism?
I just don't understand how /pol/ can be so divided on this. For instance, some will say that self improvement is key, and in the same breath argue for a dictator. Help me understand.

Liberty to do what? Individual liberty is all well and good. Liberty for corporations to destroy the environment or pollute the social atmosphere of a culture are not. What Liberty do you really want that you don't have? Smoke weed legally? Own automatic weapons? For what purpose?
Besides what authentic liberty do you realistically have in 2016? You have go to work in a suit and tie, suck up to your boss etc...how can you talk about liberty when the actual existence of most people is so utterly banal. Yes it's technically "voluntary", but that doesn't make it good. Everyone is part of a system that transcends their individual will.
Government isn't the only way people can be oppressed. And let's be honest most people are fucking retards that can be easily influenced to act against their own interests and happiness.
Liberalism is ultimately an ideology of nihilism. It isn't based on anything other than "liberating" yourself from all external pressures - whether it be government, religion, tradition, gender roles etc...libertarianism and SJWism, even Marxism all share the same ideological root, both do away with everything until you are left with nothing but an abyss, the flavour of that abyss varies but it's essentially the same.
For real human liberation we have to look to our pre-enlightenment traditionalist ideas.
