Because a vote for Cruz IS a vote for the status quo. With Cruz's father being a communist, and his wife's CFR and Goldman Sachs connections...he is much more desired by the establishment, than Trump.
With so much corruption in most country's governments, why do you think they fear a Trump presidency more than other candidate?

Cruz definitely has a chance of a yuge majority win. Rubio will drop out after Florida, with his delegates going to Cruz. Cruz is already surging hard and is winning half of the states, add in Rubios delegates and he is in a clear lead.
Being in the lead keeps you in the lead. People like to vote for winners. When Cruz lead is announced, people will vote for him in droves.
Cruz will be the repulibcan candidate, Hillary will be the next president.
Mathematically, he doesn't stand a chance to win the nomination anymore. He was supposed to sweep the South, and I don't think he can win in the Northeast. Cruz is also too conservative to win a GE.
