Syria NEEDS a central leadership that keeps everyone in check. The country is just made up of too many different ethnic, cultural, religious, social and economic groups. (christian, jewish, muslim, turkic, arab, palestinian, kurd, bedu, etc. etc. etc.) All the average Syrian really wants is for things to go back to the way they were before 2011 because Syria was stable as fuck and life was generally good unless you were a fucking moron.

The Syrian war will go on for a while. Nusra will eventually be the strongest Sunni faction on the ground. There will continue to be large scale fighting, and opposition forces will still be able to form enclaves away from the capital. But that's about it.
The same goes for all over the Muslim world. Jihadists will be able to pull off large scale attacks, but they will only be able to control certain enclaves. They won't be able to do anything other than period attacks outside of those enclaves. Jihadists mostly exist because of the Internet anyways. I remember say 7 years ago, when Jihadists controlled hardly anything, but everyone was scared of them because of the Internet presence.
