I think it's because it's a safe bet. In all media, practically everything that panders to something generic is more highly regarded. This is so much more obviously in written, online mediums because a writer can go from good story to excellent and 'heartwarming' story by doing it on blacks or whatever. In the same general idea you get terrible writers making terrible stories but because it's about blacks or whatever they will not face the same criticism they would get otherwise
There is this large disconnect between this class of media and the average person. Media thrives off trends and right now, race and feminism is the trending shit. You will get more views, you will get better ratings if you write stuff about how minorities are oppressed or use non-white characters. You will receive less criticism if you use minority actors instead of whites.
This is a fad but it won't die, it will just re-emerge in a decade or two in some more radical form.

I think it's funny watching movies over the past few decades how blacks became less prominent in any role that was stereotypical or as the bad guy.
If you had some black thugs in an 80's movie nobody gave a shit but now you can guarantee movie studios get letters every time they portray blacks in any role that accurately shows anything close to reality about their negatives.
I remember hearing a story about how the producer of COPS got mail saying he was racist for showing too many black people. He made that point that the footage they got was 60% blacks and 40% whites and the arrests and prison records back that statistic up for incidents with police but they actually tried to show blacks in a more positive light by going 40% blacks, 60% whites. So you have this situation where a producer is actively trying to show blacks in a better light but even then it's apparently racist.

Well /pol/ is way too up its own ass top consider any viewpoint that doesn't justify paranoia...but when I was in marketing back in the 90's, we cast mixed race just because white groups usually didn't respond negatively to their inclusion, and it did not affect their perception of the product being showcased. But non-white groups always tested a net increase in positive perceptions of the product, as well as marked increase in willingness to discuss the product with their friends and family, and likely hood of exposing them to the product.
Basically it was always a gain with very little drawbacks.
I know you won't accept any answer but jews killing whites because reasons, but our actual manipulation was to deliberately exploit the insecurities of non-whites. Plus everybody at the firm was an anglo. Just a little cherry on top of all the other stuff I said that you'll also not consider.
