He didn't have a project or any valid reason for bringing that item to school. It wasn't anything impressive, just taking a clock out of its case and putting it in a briefcase to make it look scary.
He shopped it around to various teachers who knew he did this race baiting shit, and they ignored him, but then he made the alarm go off in class of some teacher who didn't know (substitute) and they called the cops.
Of fucking course he got arrested, and he deserves to be in juvie prison for making bomb threats.
