Cruz simply can't win the northeast, the rust belt, or the west coast. If the GOPe strategy is to keep Trump out by eating his delegates, they have to leave Rubio or Kasich in to win those states. Plus, they hate Cruz, so they want at least one puppet in the race. Even with either Rubio or Kasich out, Trump still wins by reasonable margins.
It would take a miracle (or massive fraud) for Trump to lose at this point. I've run the numbers, I know.
