Social Security/medicare has a specific tax that non-NEETS pay every single check
That money goes into a social security trust fund. That fund then pays out either when one reaches retirement or under title II(disability)/XVI(welfare disability/ret.)
What you are never told (unless you read a book. Try Plunder and Deceit if you dont want an unbiased source) is that a majority of the money put in the ss fund is converted into bonds, IOUs essentially, and the liquid money is used in other parts of the government.
Social security is not bankrupt, HOWEVER it will be unsustainable if we can't reverse the downward trending ratio of # of workers VS # of beneficiaries
I truly believe that one of the major reason for the rise of acceptance of "socialism" is due to the Republican's crying wolf. The so called socialist policies were never socialist, let a lone exclusive to socialism. So the young generation are conditioned into believing these policies are socialist. They see them working, or at least not bringing an economic collapse or despotic government as Republican claim. They equate social democracy with socialism and are now susceptible to actual socialist propaganda who will take advantaged of this generation's ignorance. They will think that since the so called socialist polices were good then full blown socialism will be even better. Thanks, Republitards.

What your source is referring to is Federal Discretionary Spending [1], which is correct. 69 cents of every dollar spent in discretionary spending goes to pay off the War debt.
