How is Trump going to get things like the wall, 35% tarrifs, his proposed tax rates, etc. past congress when they hate him and everything he says?

Executive orders?
>>
>implying it wouldn't have his logo on it
>>
How can he continue to add 10ft to that design?
>>
>>66778731
Obviously he can't get all that stuff done without congress. However, after beating the entire fucking world to get the job he's going to have a hell of a mandate. He will be hard to ignore.
>>
intimidation, shaming, twitter, and facebook. If he gets the republican nomination they will all quickly fall behind him. Then its only a matter of turning the democratic voters against the democratic politicians.

Or he will make deals. A fence instead of a wall. A 17% tariff instead of 35%. etc etc
>>
>>66778731
he won't
>>
>>66779229

Can't he do executive orders?
>>
>>66779464

This

You think obama accomplished nothing with his congressional opposition? Trump would be worse considering 75%+ of both houses will work together to keep him from doing anything

He would get voted out in one term and be a total joke
>>
>>66781491

But what about executive actions like Obama :^)
>>
>>66779386
He's promised and confirmed a 50 foot wall, it was negotiated down from the initial 90 foot proposal. I doubt he'll back down after confirming the details.
>>
>>66781491

Obama just sucks and intentionally wants to do nothing. Bush operated against an legislature not controlled by his own party for two terms and basically did whatever the fuck he wanted.
>>
Because its obvious at this point that Americans demand a wall. If congressmen want to keep their jobs, they WILL approve of the wall or we will find congressmen who will.
>>
>>66781491
he will send military operations to mexico
>>
ITT: It's only bad when Republicans use executive orders.
>>
>>66781786

You need to be 18 to post here. Please leave.

>>66781491

Very true. Trump will get blocked for 4 years by both parties.
>>
>>66781491

> except then the American people get to see how shitty their House and Senate reps are and vote all of them out of office next cycle
>>
>>66780798
To a certain extent, but there's a limit to how much executive orders can accomplish. Since Congress controls the budget, and the wall would cost a good deal of money, he'll need Congress's blessing to work it in. However, with the Congress already being fully republican, (and its likely to only get more republican if it's accompanied by a trump victory) he has a solid chance.
>>
>>66781491
And just like how everyone is turning against him now, eventually they'll all fall in line when he shows everyone how corrupt the entire thing is.

I honestly don't think Trump's ego will let him go down in history as a bad president.
>>
It will be paid for by Mexico. The congress won't have any say about it

Both congress and senate were not republican majorities from 2000-2008, person who doesn't live in this country.
>>
>>66778731
He is going to have the congress assassinated and replace it with /pol/ tripfags.
>>
>>66782232

Agreed

I don't like his politics but I love what he's doing to the political meta

The GOP is fucked and the democratic party is splintering harder than it ever has
This election has been a resounding fuck you to the establishment from both sides
>>
The mexicans will dug tunnels under the wall or go by boat

I don't know why people support such a retarded notion
>>
>>66781491
Retard. Trump has the people's mandate. Congress right now does not. One speech blasting the congressmen who oppose a wall will ensure they are not elected.
>>
>>66782329

>Both congress and senate were not republican majorities from 2000-2008, person who doesn't live in this country.

Im all against ad hominems, since an argument should be refuted with facts, but in this case Ill make an exception.

Literally kill yourself.
>>
>>66782321
Yeah good point.
>>
>>66782232
>in the next cycle
>in the new census

Good luck winning anything beyond 2020. The Democrats will gerrymander this entire nation and conservatives will be shut out for the rest of the century. Not a joke.
>>
>>66778731
The Congress would have to be outright suicidal to go against Trump on the core principles which got him elected.
That would not be going against Trump, that would be going against the Republican public.
It would be a political suicide.

Politicians are sleazy but they are not stupid, they want to get re-elected.
>>
>>66782452

So did Obama. And bush. And Clinton. Etc.

It means nothing in practice when Congress doesn't want to play ball
>>

You don't even live in our country so maybe you don't understand why you need a supermajority to block a filibuster. What are you even arguing. He got through every single bit of legislation he wanted. NCLB, Two Wars, Medicare Part D... but again you don't even live here so how could you possibly know what you're talking about? How are you so much of a loser you spend your time arguing about America when you don't live here? And... you're wrong.

Meanwhile Obama had a supermajority in the legislature, and used to accomplish... what? the Affordable Care Act? Ok. And what else?
>>
>>66782452
>people's mandate

Wtf? Stop making shit up.
>>
>>66782452
I mean its not like Congress has a good approval rating to loss. They will block the living fuck out of him and blame each other and still get re elected.

Trailer trash is the people's mandate now?
kek
>>
>>66782626
He doesn't have as much support as we all think, he's only got around 30% of Republican support nationally.

In fact, there are already people in congress from the Republican side that would support Hillary over Trump. They're not saying it in public though.
>>
>>66782321
If those congressmen want to keep their jobs they will fund it.

Unlike Obama the same voters that put Trump win will put Congress in. Going against his agenda will be suicide.

Do you guys even politic?
>>
>>66778731
He is not, he will be the most ineffectual president in the history of new angloland.

Take a look at Obama, the political spectrum has not been polarized like this for a long time and he even though he struggles he still gets shit done. Why might you ask, well because he is diplomatic and tries to work towards a solution.

Trump is a dictator in democratic cloth, he expects that if he is elected he can simply bark orders and "get shit done". No buddy.

Calling it now, if Trump is elected 2021 will have a top trending hashtag #OneTermTrump.

Screenshot this for posterity.
>>
>>66783216
I mean Mexico is going to pay for the wall, not that there won't be a wall
>>

>>

You have to go back
>>
>>66783154
He's got around 40-50. In a three way race that's plenty.

The sitting president has the mandate when their party controls Congress. To ignore this is moronic.

Bunch of Cruz and Hillary proxies in here spreading FUD.
>>
>>66778731
Simple
>I want to build a wall
>we won't fund it
>ok, Mexico will
>no we won't
>ok I'll stop trade
>whoa, let's think about this here...
Stopping trade, he'd have Mexico by the nuts.
>>
>>66783284
I'm not sure the executive can direct tariff revenue to projects, but if they could, that wouldn't even require Congress.

I know the executive can set tariff rates without Congress.
>>
>>66783427
The latest polls show him at an average of 36%.
>>
Building a wall won’t work anymore than the drug war has worked. You have to disincentive people from coming here by making it difficult to work without proof of citizenship or a worker visa. This would require employers to be subject to stiff fines if they violate the rules. But it wouldn’t require the same capital investment as a wall which ultimately people would figure out a way to get around.
>>
>>66783580
Those polls are useless
>>
>>66783535
>stopping trade

About as intelligent an idea as us telling the ecuadorian embassy we can just walk on in and collect assange
>>
>>66783697

Thats why we have e-verify. All you have to do is increase prosecution, mandatory e-verify (something people are already trying to do), and increase deportations. Also, we don't actually even have a fence in most places. If you think people would get around a wall, maybe they would (but probably not) but we could at least start with putting SOMETHING up first.
>>
>>66783746
Let's say he's at 50% nationally for Republicans.

Do you think he can win over moderates from the Democratic voting base?
>>
He'll just Andrew Jackson that shit, overstepping his authority if needed.
>>
>>66778731
Yrah they can just do like Ted Cruz and shut down the government and hold their breath and stomp around like children because mean old Mr. Trump won't let them sell the rest of the country down the river anymore.

Yes, Congress can render the president impotent whenever they want to. This is the precedent Cruz set. No negotiations, no compromise, and no working together, just give me what I want or I'll burn it all down.

Ted Cruz supporters will defend this.
>>
>>66783869
I'm extremely left wing and I voted for Trump, and I will vote for him in the general election too.
>>

Silly shill. There will be a civil war. The oligarchs and politicians will be slaughtered and we'll begin anew.

Why can't they just spin the wall as being mutually beneficial?

A commie or socialist voting for Trump?

I'm willing to bet you haven't found your true political standing yet.
>>
>>66783857
Yeah that’s the system we need but there’s no political will to enforce it. I work in the service industry and almost all the restaurants have illegals working in kitchens and somehow they are not ever fined or prosecuted as far as I know. Not enough for them to stop. And I’ve never heard of anyone getting deported here although people tell me things are different in Arizona. I also live in SF which is a sanctuary city so that’s another story.

>>
Can one of you amerilards confirm, can he use an executive order for the wall and 35% tariff?
>>
he won't

not that he won't try
>>
>>66784650
No more than Obama could use an executive order to stop sales of "assault weapons"
>>
>>66784429
Because Mexico gets 12 billion a year from illegal workers sending their money back home.

It's literally keeping their economy afloat
>>
>>66784497
It’s possible to hold conservative, liberal, and centrist views all at once. I’m a conservative on immigration and gun control, libertarian on drug policy, and left wing on health (single payer) care and some aspects of economics insofar as I think we need more infrastructure spending and government employment in that area. So I like Bernie and Trump more than Clinton and Cruz for sure. I think Cruz’s religious views have no place in politics, but I like him on gun rights. There really is no perfect candidate to give you everything you want most of the time unless you’re a down the line conservative or liberal. But most voters aren’t. They either vote on a single really important issue or based on personalities.
>>
>>66784436
What's wrong with that? A free market capitalist system, but with a govt. that's highly autocratic and purges corporate corruption by murder. Essentially capitalist fascist society.
>>
>>66778731
He won't be able to, same with Hillary and Sanders. None of them will get work done and everyone will laugh and bitch.

Jim Webb was the only one who could have done anything.

>>
Everyone here on /pol/ knows that politicians are lying and exaggerating during election time, including Trump himself.

But it's important to at least have a "base" that's closer to what people want.
Trump will at least increase deportation and hire more border patrols and maybe even continue the secure fence act of 2006. That's way more than anything else puts on the table in that regard.
