Then Mussolini highjacked the fasces as a symbol of political power over life and death.
Since the 18th century and onwards the entire world was essentially fascist in its most primitive sense (total power of the king/government etc), alot of governments have symbols of sculptures of fasces.
However, it IS a fascist symbol the same way the swastika is a Nazi symbol. Just because it has a different origin, doesnt mean its not representing exactly that, when used by idiots.
