Because what we need is a strong, principled constitutional conservative. Ronald Reagan once said "What is needed is a strong fiscal conservative, with a principled approach to conservatism". We need to make sure we always support our greatest ally, Israel. We also need to support free trade because it is true conservatism embracing free-market economics.

Rush Limbaugh, who has like 20 million listeners, is constantly suggesting Trump is just an angry reaction vote to the establishment. He's always always trying to prop up Cruz by pairing him with Trump, and then constantly (or sometimes overtly) saying Cruz is the intelligent, conservative, true vote, while Trump is just people "punishing the establishment" ... but then he'll say the establishment fears Cruz even more, etc.
I think Cruz is fake opposition that will never win a general election, he's an evangelical who wants to flat tax everyone. Trump is the only reasonable choice.

I disagree, in my opinion Cruz's actions have remained consistent with his beliefs. Whereas Trump has changed his political stance well into middle age, I have less confidence in Trump following through with his rhetoric because I do not believe people change their core principles significantly in later life. Their policies are also not identical, though I enjoy many of Trump's proposals there are certain differences which lead me to prefer Cruz, for example the flat tax.
