The way it works is that /pol/ is unreserved arguments. Anything can be attacked, and all ideas are forced to stand on their own merits.
Which is largely why /pol/ is a Christian board. You can criticize Catholics for a lot of things, but they really have their shit together when it comes to theological arguments. Almost every argument against a Catholic typically has to start with the Catholic correcting the person, explaining what Catholics actually believe, what that actually means in theological terms, and by the time the person in error has finished their education, they're stuck in a state of realizing that this is a religion crafted by several centuries of the smartest and most educated people in the world. Remember, back in the day, Theology was considered the highest tier of study, and you first had to prove yourself a competent master of everything from the rigors of mathematics to the most difficult quandaries of philosophy before you were even allowed to begin an education in that field.
