I've worked in community care, and one thing I noticed is that these people are hate filled to begin with. A lot of them are on the streets due to drug addictions, mental illness, or fell through the cracks of the system.
Quite a number of them are belligerent, ungrateful, and entitled. Many of them also do not have basic social graces and are much more vocal than a regular person. It was hard to work with them being called a "fucking bitch" or a "cunt" all the time.

Yeah it's confronting. The reality is though that humans have some capacity for some of the most inhumane, cruel, evil shit ever.
Some are born that way, some grow up that way, some just act that way sometimes for w/e reason.
