Islam, as a system of society, is an extremely uncompetitive one. From economics, to technology, to business ethics, to human rights. Islamic countries have awful records in each segment. The only successful Islamic countries are the ones that leverage their natural resources, mainly oil. Nationalism don't fit with Islam. It's what muslims call "jahiliyah", the sharia system is all about the one kingdom of God which will at some point rule the whole world when Jesus comes back.
