It's a very real possibility. I see a few potential outcomes.
First is that Donald Trump keeps to his pledge to support the Republican. If he does, I think he comes out looking like a fucking hero, and when this nominee (predictably) loses big time to Hildebeest, Trump is set up to make a massive unified push back against her in 2020 with the entire might of the GOP behind him.
Alternatively, Trump may feel betrayed and decide to torpedo the Republican candidate. If he does, the party is finished for all time. They almost didn't survive the Tea Party, they'll never live through a Trump led civil war.
Which, frankly, they'll deserve. The GOPe deserves to die if it betrays Trump. And the thing is that the Republicans simply haven't been able to deliver on anything since George W. Bush. They fundamentally and repeatedly failed to stop the out of control Osama administration. I mean they had one job, and they couldn't do it. They've let this country get taken over by the radical left that hate America and everything that makes us good. If they can't be the party of a Great America, they shouldn't even exist.
