Do you like what you do?

Unless you're a farmer in Kansas, now is not the time. It's trump time, baby!
Hey buddy, I think you've got the wrong door. The reddit club is two blocks down

What is the weight of a Higgs Boson
>>66336801
Yes very much so. Very relaxing lifestyle and my family has been doing it since my 8th great grandfather came here in 1740.
>>66336838
Oklahoma actually
Kansas sucks
>>66337052
what do you keep?

>>66336732
I use to be a pig farmer shit was so fun I miss it
Is it fun? How profitable?

100 acres of grandfather's land when he died
50 head of cattle, limousine and Angus
5 horses which are my father's
10 chickens
5 goats because I like their cheese
>>66338758
Faggot nu-male city dwellers pls fuck off back to facebook.
What do you know about beefmasters? Should I get a beefmaster calf?
>>66338222
I pull $30k-50k in a good year, which is plenty for me
Nothing super profitable but cattle prices are good right now. If I find myself needing more money than that I clear land out or build barbed wire fences for other people
>>66338763
egg-layers, is their meat any good?
>>66339017
I've never butchered my chickens
Bought some from a friend of mine who does, it was a lot better than store bought chicken
>>66338763
Why so few chickens?
They are so low maintenance to keep.
I have 50 in a coop in my backyard and I live in a suburb
how often big companies come to you to sign their ridiculous contracts?
>>66338905
I knew a guy in Texas who dabbled in them. I mean he made a good bit of money off of them because they're absolute freaks of nature. There lies my problem with them I suppose, just way too manmade and artificial. If you just care about money I'd say have at it, they get fat quick.
>>66336732
How's it feel like to not be a wagecuck slave
>>66339256
My cousin is the egg producer around here, 200 chickens strong along with various other birds, ships them all over the world. I suppose there's sort of a superficial contract that he's the chicken guy and it'd be wrong for me to try and compete with him. I just like to have enough eggs for my own personal use.
>>66339732
wheres my $15?
>>66339341
I'm too small time for that shit. Not a lot for them to buy round here. I used to get corporate Shlomos all the time back when oil was in high demand trying to buy the family wells
MAGA?

good to know, heard that egg-laying breeds don't taste as good.
But I doubt you can beat fresh, non-factory farmed anything.

Why do you like to fuck corn and not vote for Donald Trump?
>>66336732
What do you farm?
Do you solely keep animals, or do you produce fruits/vegetables?
factory farming is an abomination
hope you aren't involved in that

Grow all the necessities
Tomatoes, onions, garlic, Basil, potatoes, strawberries, cucumbers, and more
Mainly just for my personal use but I'll sell to people if they ask.
Oklahoma weather has been so goddamn crazy lately though. Was nearly too wet to grow anything this last summer
>>66340912
you clearly don't understand how it works
many cows begin on grass, then transfer to factory farm feedlots
pigs are some of the worst
most chickens aren't much better
then consider all the genetic modification, growth hormones, antibiotics, etc.
fucking abomination
>>66340266
I voted for Trump
I blame all the fucking Texan transplants voting for hello rato
Building a third wall on the red river and sending them back
>>66341156
wait so you make 35-50k a year even though you farm for mainly personal use and only sell to those who ask?

I make all my money from cattle and the occasional horse

My family were farmers since coming to Louisiana in the early 1700s(before that farmers in France)
sadly my grandfather sold his farm, and destroyed our time honored tradition.
How easy is it to start up a profitable farm?
I'm currently a 23 year old highschool drop out with mdd, and PTSD.
My illness has caused many precious years to be wasted, on fruitless endeavours such as sitting in my room afraid to leave, watching my health deteriorate, and losing many friends.
The thought of following in the foot steps of my ancestor's fills my chest with happiness, and pride.
I want to become a normal functioning adult.

How comfy are your cattle?
>>66342758
Comfy and strenuous all at the same time
Nothing more comfy than drinking a beer after a really strenuous day of work
>>66343831
I wish I could make mine that clean
They're nice, constantly rubbing up on me. Hell they act like they're dogs half the time.
>>66343683
>Seminole county
Sounds peaceful and comfy, I hate living in Tulsa.
How bad are the natives out that way?
>>66344258
Eh depends. There some good ones just most are degenerate alcoholics who live in the most trashy houses honesty worse than niggers. Where I went to high school there were just about more natives than whites. They pretty much keep to themselves though, just never hire one for work, they're lazy as shit.
What is your monthly income?
>>66344537
Hah, just like here then. The liquor store I work at has some project housing behind it and 98% of the natives that live in the area are worthless thieving alcoholics. Two have died from alcohol related shit since I started working there.
I'm jealous of you though anon, living in the country on a farm/ranch in a less populated part of the state is muh dream.
>>66336732
Ive only ever known a couple of cows at a family members farm, but they were all real dickheads, like just a rotten combination of belligerent, stupid and strong, is that true of all cows or were my cousins cows just assholes?
>>66342707
What steps do I take anon?
>>66344810
I sold 3 steers for 1500 and built a two miles of fence for a guy here in town for 2000
That was for February
Clearing some land out for someone starting Monday, should make a grand or two off that job
>>66345212
Its hard to say anon being what your situation is
Farming is one of the most risky investments ever. My mother's father tried to restart the his family's dairy and it failed and 15 years layer he's still $30k in the hole. Which the dairy business itself is specifically very risky.
My suggestion would obviously first be to procure some land. 5-20 acres for starting out, just don't go overboard and get it cheap. Them just buy a calf and start fattening him up. The best way to fatten a cow is very in depth, more so than I can type in this post, but there's a plethora of research on it out there just start reading it. Once you get that first return on your first investment you can then buy two or three calves, more land etc. You just have to work your way up slow and steady and understand you can't do it all at once.
>>66346488
good post, would buy beers/10
Lord loves a working man, keep it up
>>66346488
Anon, thank you for this information!
I especially appreciate you keeping things simple, and realistic for me.
Purchasing land, and a calf will definitely be a very huge hurdle(especially due to my neetdom, and risks involved), but I believe it can be done if I can stay on the path of self improvement.
which in itself will be very long, and difficult but worth it in the end.
Once again thank you anon.
