I work in a photographic lab that does school photos and this genuinely is a massive fucking pain in the arse.
You basically just have to decide whether you're going to make the pale kids all look albino or the dark kids look like silhouettes. If you're a white kid in London or a dark kid in the countryside, you're shit out of luck.
