Alright Royalfags, you have one chance to explain to me why Britain shouldn't become a republic.

Oh, and before you say MUH TOURISM

>Implying the one sole reason people come from all over the world to arguably the most culturally significant country in history is to stand outside Buckingham Palace for ten minutes and take photos of it's gates

Go.
>>
You first, why should it?

Less taxpayer's money being wasted, which could be going towards things like the NHS, the welfare state and education. You know, institutions that could do with more investment.

Also not being able to elect our own head of state is undemocratic.

Your turn.
>>
>>66117000
nobody gives a shit about french castles because no royalty lives in them
so yes tourism is a valid reason

Boring bait.

Saged.

>Waaah gonna sage this topic because OP doesn't share my views!

What a fucking crybaby you are.

What's bait about that? Do you want your own countrymen to be forced into poverty? Some patriot you are.
>>
>>66117891

I work for a rural county government department. There are over twice as many jobs being advertised within our county than there are people on JSA. Anyone who is homeless, or without a job is poor through their own life choices or willful ignorance.

I also resent having to pay for Rasheena to shit out her 9th baby at my expense.
>>
You said it yourself, History.

And they're the most recognised and relevant royals of the world.

Hell the whole civilised world will stop the day the Queen dies whether to pay respect or to laugh for the incoming Charles.

Mark my words the world will watch and mourn because in a weird way they will be watching genuine relevant history.
>>

It's very cool and conservative.
>>
>>66118180
>There are over twice as many jobs being advertised within our county than there are people on JSA.

I see the same jobs advertised all the time. I'm talking low-paying part-time (occassionly full) shite that nobody could reasonably live on unless they lived at home. They usually go down for a week before being reposted again over and over.

It's not a matter of jobs, it's a matter of so many not being sustainable to live on.

>Less taxpayer's money being wasted,
It's like you don't understand how a government works in the real world

>More money for the welfare state
Found the nigger/NEET. Fuck off

But we already elect a prime minister that does everything anyway. The fuck is an elected head of state as well going to accomplish

Crown estates send more to the exchequer than the royals get, and the royals are significantly cheaper than the amount spent on most presidents.

The fact that you still keep this antiquated figure makes me have much more respect for the French than the Britcucks. At least they chopped the head off of their delusional blue blood idiot.
>>
>>66119359
When the French were cutting off their royal's heads ours had already becomes essentially powerless figureheads. The last time a royal refused to sign an act of parliament was Queen Anne in 1707.
>>
>>66118278
I get that, and I'm not saying we should ignore our history. So why not turn Buckingham Palace into a world heritage site?

'Rural' being the keyword. Jobs in the cities aren't as commonplace as one would think.

The Royal family legally own vast swathes of land worth billions to our economy.

Each new monarch leases it to the government each year in exchange for a salary.

If we take their title and salary, they take back their land.
>>
>>66117535
And? France still has a booming tourist industry, Sergio.
>>
>>66119856
>So the Royals are actually not that wealthy?
Most of their wealth is in property. A lot of which can't be sold without an act of parliament. They cost less than Obama does the yanks.
>>
>>66120007
But Obama is actually in a position of power.
>>
>>66119760
Is it not dishonest to frame that refutation like that? Do they not still have that power whether or not they use it?

It's still disgraceful to have a monarch, and if they are impotent figure heads why keep them?
>>
>>66119934
It's national identity. The UK looks very cool with all this shit otherwise it'll become like unofficial part of US.
>>
>>66119856

There's a hell of a difference between "makes more money for the exchequer than they cost" and "not that wealthy" and you know it.
>>
>>66120154
So what's wrong with them? Politically neutral head of state beholden to a sovereign parliament is better than the clusterfuck the Americans have with a democratic president and republican congress, where nothing gets done because of it.

>>66120260
They have the power de jure but de facto they do not. If the Queen started vetoing laws there would be a constitutional crisis, and their affront to democracy would lead to the end of the monarchy entirely.
>if they are impotent figure heads why keep them?
Politically neutral symbol of the state.

>>
>>66117503
Crown estates more than pays for the all royal family expenses and is a nice addition to the British treasury, you go republic it all becomes private again
>>
>>66119856
>So the Royals are actually not that wealthy? Alright pal.

No. They are wealthy, but the salary paid to them each year, from the government, is less than they directly contribute to the government from the revenues of their estates. Each year, Parliament takes four times as many pounds directly from the Royal Family than the Royal Family costs each year. The royal estates (I'm not talking about Buckingham Palace here, but their land holdings) aren't government assets or held in trust or anything like that. It is their own private property, and just like the private property of any other family in the United Kingdom, it can't be unilaterally stolen by the government.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhyYgnhhKFw&ab_channel=CGPGrey

tl;dw The question of whether or not to abolish the British monarchy—even ignoring tourism and government stability—is a question of which number is larger: 40 or 160.

Tax money already addressed by anons talking about wealth from crown estates.

>Also not being able to elect our own head of state is undemocratic.

We elect our politicians to run the country and the prime minister to run the government.

The head of state is the figurehead of the country. If the head of state and the head of government are one and the same then the system becomes less democratic.

People in America are forced to afford undue respect to a head of government purely because he/she is The President.

They get a title 'President *whoever*' which they keep for life
They almost always get a second term due to undue reverence.
They often result in presidential dynasties eg. Bush, Clinton, Roosevelt

It is not conducive for freedom of press. With the Queen acting as a head of state here we can ruthlessly and relentlessly criticize our head of government in a way that is frowned upon in America. This is far more healthy for democracy.
>>
>>66120260
the head of the state controls the military, and the prime minister has to ask the queen permission to use her military

like the House of Lords, it was set up to counterbalance the partisan nature of the House of Commons.

But of course this was not good enough for thinly veiled republicans, so they threw a fit and almost ruined our balenced democracy

Your royalty are false royals. Through banking debts created by many many foreign wars the house of Windsor (Rothschild) blackmailed the Stewarts into business based marriages.

Tourism IS your number one industry don't let the lie die, ESPECIALLY if you faggots are planning to leave the EU.

Congrats on the trips, but you wasted them on this thread. I've never met a more self-deluded bunch than my own countrymen when it comes to kissing that old bags dried up cunt.
I don't hold her any ill will. I just wish she would fuck off somewhere else, and take her scrounging family with her.
Why to get rid of them? Why to keep them, more like. They do nothing that couldn't be done by paid civil servants, accountable to the people, without the toadying and scraping these pathetic cucks enjoy so much.
To the morons sitting their "mock" knighthood exams, I would like to point out a few facts. You say she owns vast swathes of land. You are wrong. She owns all of it. Every last bit is her property, including the land your house is built on. You rent it from her. That's why it's called a title deed. You own the paper, and therefore the use of it, not the thing itself. She is, in fact, the richest landowner on the planet, as she owns Canada and Australia as well.
Don't get me wrong, though. I regard theft at the point of a sword as being no legitimate basis for ownership. Particularly of people. That's right, peasants. She OWNS you, and you like it. Yes you do. You love your slave collar, and can't wait to fawn and simper if you ever got the chance to exist in the same room as her. Personally, if I ever had the misfortune to meet this neet of all neets, I'd cough my germs into her face.
But my revulsion at the sick travesty that is monarchy is nothing next to the contempt I feel for those who like it, and would silence any dissent with cries of "your just a wanker, so fuck off...etc, etc, ad nauseum. You know who you are, you pathetic lumps of snot. To those who's argument is "leave her alone, she's not that bad. Like to see you do any better" etc, etc, ad nauseum, I would say grow a few principles, why don't you? Actually draw a line in the sand and say "beyond this, I will not compromise, because right is right no matter how attractive wrong looks."

There are many "cultural" things we don't do ant more, and toadying at the feet of a breedmare just because some bullshit wanker stole everybody's land by force a thousand years ago is just pathetic.
