Where do I go from here?

Why would a high school grad be in debt?
>>
>>66059457

I've been considering it but since I have no idea what I'd want to study or what future occupation I wish to acquire, I don't think it's a good idea to commit myself to that sort of debt.

Do 4 years in the Air Force.
>GI Bill when you get out (free college plus monthly stipend for books and living)
>Tuition Assistance while on active duty
>3 hot meals a day, superior living conditions to the other services
>Base pay and tax free BAH when you move off base
>Free health care
>Low chance of dying in combat, deployments are pretty cushy and tax free
>Real job experience in maintenance, medical, security forces, aircrew, etc...
>Overseas assignments and TDYs to Guam, Hawaii, Japan, Korea, Germany, Spain, England, Italy, etc.
>Make bros with people who aren't "HOOAH SEMPER FI" brutes

What are you even waiting for? Go do some push-ups, faggot.
>>

fucked up a year of college perhaps
>>
>>66059550
There are jobs that are only require a high school diploma but pay 12/hr plus. CNC Machinist, web developer, shit ton of trade jobs. Find a job that require technical experience/ If you like it and are good at it, go to college and your employer might pay for some of it. If you don't like it, move on.

College after high school is a honey trap for exactly the reason you mention. Kids who haven't worked a day in their have to make a decision to learn a shit ton of theoretical knowledge in a career area they have no practical knowledge of.

Don't do what we did, work at a job doing technical labor to see if you would actually enjoy learning the theory behind what you are doing first.

You have finally found the answer that all seek to find in life. The delicate balance that is work and play. You are now one with society.

I am 23, I work a minimum wage job as well and have a couple hundred saved up. I tried college, but stopped because I didn't know why I was there. I luckly made money because Pell grants and NYS TAP programs and shit like that.

I do exactly as you said, Work, sleep, eat, shitpost, repeat. You'll be fine, son.

Do nursing

Health care is an eternally growing industry. Once you graduate you can literally work anywhere in the world.
My advice, if male, graduate then go to Saudi and work for a year. Bring back 150k then settle down/invest.

Just get past the first year. It's literally wiping asses. I'm 26 now, worked in scandiland, been to Saudi and UAE, came back to Maine; bought a house and have a healthy stock portfolio. My day job is assistant nurse manager and mostly just paperwork.
Pretty sweet life desu.

if you do this dont go into a fucking mechanical field, unless you know you want to do that when you get out.

Trust me, having a more important/stressful job doesnt make you any more money whatsoever.

be a nonner

being that i went the air force route, i would suggest trade school
>>
Just keep doing what you're doing and enjoy it while you can; search for a better job but don't act like you have to be a CEO by 24

You're in better financial state than a very large portion of the US
>>
>>66059352

Go to free/low cost high quality foreign college. Plan your next moves while getting degree. Best change to see the world, since once you start working you can't travel for longer time periods.
>>
>>66059352
Start a business.
>>
>>66060559
Also a Mainer, also in healthcare.

Healthcare is easy mode. Go to school for any healthcare profession that requires licensing, and you're set for life.

And if you have half a brain you can move quickly up the ladder in administration or branch into business operations. I started as a Resp Therapist and in 5 years became an executive director for a nursing home.
>>
Go into STEM if you're good at any of it
otherwise go to trade school, get training and plan to eventually start your own business. Save more, quit your vices and don't buy anything you don't need. Do not go into debt for a car. Do not go into debt for anything outside of a house.
>>
>>66060964
Your advice makes me wonder.
How strong is "live now, pay later" mentallity in the US?
>>
>>66061242
It was strong enough to cause the crash a few years back and it's gone right back to the way it was before... it'll happen again before you know it. If you can't pay for it in cash then don't buy it. I have a friend who just bought a car for 15k with 0% down and didn't realize they would end up paying 25k+ for it in the end. People don't think about it they just want what they want and they want it now.
>>
>>66061242
For normies its very strong, but knowing that avoiding debt at all costs is a good thing is starting to become more widly known, slowly
>>
>>66059352
dick pix?
>>
>>66061242
The majority of people live in debt in the US. Everyone thinks that increasing incomes or some windfall is inevitable and so very few people plan ahead.

A furniture store where I live gave me an in-store credit card for $10,000 recently.

Who the fuck needs $10,000 worth of furniture? That's literally a lifetime worth of furniture purchases.
>>
>>66059626
Nah, I'd like to stick to making money through the straight way
>>
>>66059551

This.

Trade school
Git gud
Git specialized in certain aspects of said trade
Git reel gud
Mobilize your trade (if you can)
Enjoy 250k a year.
>>
>>66061242
>How strong is "live now, pay later" mentallity in the US?

Its essentially our defining characteristic
>>
>>66059352
learn a trade, become expert at it and start your own business in few years. you will have a good life - and that is not worth your 9-5 time.

if you go to a white collar environment (university educated included) you will run into large amounts of brown nosed dumb cunts with skills fit for a factory processing line.

or try both and see what suits you better.
>>
>>66061537
Are you for real?

I'm 31 and just now about done furnishing my house that I started building 5 years ago. The furniture in every single room excluding the toilets is more than €10,000. Hell, the kitchen, including appliances, was about €29,000.
>>
>>66061472
For many Germans it's the other way round. Most people (even low-income) hate going into debt/investment (housing excluded) so much, that they rather take the inflation penalty on their savings before taking the smallest risk to lose it as a whole.
>>
>>66062082
I appreciate the concept of not going into debt. But why let your money sit in a bank account. If you have more than a comfortable reserve, invest that shit. Bank interest is pitiful.
>>
>>66062289
Idk, it's just what people do over here. Maybe it's because we had inflation issues during Weimar, a failed state (GDR) and therefore some old people who have seen 4 different currencies during their lifetime. Maybe they don't trust the banks.

My cousins grandmother had a big stash of cash under a tile of her floor which they found after she passed away. But it was all in Reichsmark.
>>
>>66061954
"Furniture" here doesn't include built-in cabinetry etc. Furniture being sofas, TV stands, tables and chairs.
>>
>>66059550
Computer science, statistics, or, if you're at a top 30 college, business/finance/economics.
