Last election I was 15 years old and didn't give a fuck.

What was 2012 like both here and on /pol/ compared to now?
>>
Replace Donald Trump with Mitt Romney.

Replace Hillary Clinton with Barack Obama.

There ya go.

kek, this pretty much

/pol/ was mostly libertarian nationalists and some natsocs, some edgy socialists came here to banter. /pol/ was a lot more skeptical of politicians then, and it wasn't all election, all the time. there were a lot less shills, underaged newfags, shitposters, and reddit refugees (plus there was no flags and 20+ daily "/pol/ btfo" threads, but there were more "is x degenerate" and "redpill me on x" threads). people honestly thought ron paul would win and then romney would win, but the dickriding was nowhere near as bad as it was now.

bbeeeeeerggghhh

Wrong

Replace Donald Trump with Ron Paul

Replace Meme Magic with complete delusion
>>
>>66007980
This. Libertarians that were for Ron Paul was most of /pol/.
>>
>>66007386
The conservatard tears flowed
>>
Everyone knew the election was between two puppets and it would barely make a difference who won so there was a whole lot less discussion about the election.
Now people feel that things can actually happen if Trump wins so people are hyped and spam a lot and shills are scared and shill a lot.
>>
>>66007469
Nobody on /pol/ wanted Romney to win the primary. This time 2012 people were hoping Ron Paul could pull off some magic and win the primary.

As I remember it, there wasn't even a 1/100th of the hype and discussion for the 2012 elections.

I remember /pol/ used to talk about Ron Paul and Herman Cain a bit. When they dropped out, it was all on Romney. And he lost to Obama.

It was really the most boring election ever. 04 and 08 were so much better. The one we're in now is probably the best of all of them.
>>
It was really uninteresting as everyone knew Obama would get another 4 years against the deadweight that was Mitt. The funniest part was reading about how Romney cancelled the credit cards he issued his campaign staff immediately after the results came in and fucked off to Florida, leaving them stranded in Ohio.
>>

>>66008423
Once Mitt Romney got the nomination /pol/ shilled him exactly the same as they do Trump now. In fact it started well before Mitt got the nomination, because it was obvious Ron Paul wasn't going to get the nomination.

2008 People were more adamant about Ron Paul.

>>66008984
>everyone knew Obama would get another 4 years against the deadweight that was Mitt.

Tell that to /pol/ on election night.
>>
>>66009743
I don't think anyone genuinely had hopes for Romney so much as spite for more 'change' with Obama in office.
>>
>>66007386
Replace Trump with Romney and it's identical. I used to have an image that someone made containing months of comments from Romney-shills claiming that the election was 100% Romney.

We will see a repeat this year.
>>
>>66007386
After Ron Paul lost the nomination we accepted the fact that Obama was going to win no matter what happened.
>>
>>66010572
This is a great way to spot the newfags.

Romney shills were all over this board. Rational people knew Obama was going to win, but most of /pol/ is not rational. Huge portion of this board absolutely believed Romney had it in the bag.
>>
After Paul lost the shills pushed for Trump while the oldfags voted for Johnson
>>
>>66007980
No one really thought they would win

Meme magic wasn't as advanced, we've become more efficient and intelligence agencies are closing in on us. Soon memes will control the world.

I remember working out and seeing the results on the TV and just saying "yah, predictable"

It was so lackluster on the Republican side. Dems were just riding nigger cock like usual

In 2012 /pol/ was pro-liberty as fuck. Now /pol/ is pro-authoritarian.

nah bruh just you wait Ron Paul might not have got that popular vote but he's been pulling the strings behind the scenes and has got the delegates on his side anyway

Come convention you'll see - all the delegates will vote Paul
>>
Word on the street is that Karl Rove still thinks Romney won.
>>
>>66007469
romney never had this level of support, he had ONE good rally during the entirety of his campaign whereas Trump rallies are ALWAYS fucking incredible and each one is better than the last
>>
on here? where? this is pol

No, this is Patrick.

>>66013220
we were foolish enough to think that pol was libertarian, turns out we just want anything that is opposed to the establishment no matter how authoritarian it is

It really sucked. There was no hope anywhere, Ron Paul got smashed, the Mittens memes were average at best, and we got stuck with Obongo.
>>
>>66007469
No, everyone was talking about Ron Paul. Everyone only started coming out of it when Mitt was pretty much Republican nominee.
