When you guys left they had a lot more power. The House of Lords used to be where the Lords Temporal (Dukes, Earls, Barons, etc.) and the Lords Spiritual (Bishops, Archbishops, etc.) debated/blocked/slowed bills that the Commons passed. There is now only a few seats for the aristocracy and the Church of England shares it's religious seats with Rabbis, Imams and Catholic Bishops now.
