A corporation, when having a monopoly on a service people need to survive, can hold it at ransom. Bureaucracy may be inefficient and subject to corruption, but in a properly functioning democracy, those things are easier to control and given the circular nature of a single-payer system people would at the very least, not intentionally hold themselves hostage.

We have an awful situation with trade in this country. We lose billions annually because we have a system of trading regulations that is unfriendly to American companies and manipulated so that foreign multi-billion-dollar corporations can have the easiest time reaping profits. Japan makes thousands of cars which they ship over here for nothing, and we give them beef, as Trump likes to put it. Our trade deficit with China is 500 billion dollars next year. When we break free of the pharmaceutical company lobbyists paying off our politicians, we can start bidding on prescription drug purchases as a nation and save in excess of 300 billion dollars. His plan to close our borders to illegal immigrants, while heavy-handed, will not only stop the flow of illegal drugs into the US to a major degree but will also being freeing up entry-level jobs for the economically disadvantaged. When we start reforming the system by lowering corporate taxes, putting tariffs on companies that actively seek to employ non-US citizens due to the cheapness of labor (Indian call centers, Mexican labor) and actively giving the preference back to skilled American workers through a variety of negotiations, trade agreements and tax plans, there will be a huge benefit for every American.
