While the numbers in OP's pick is based off of the Quinnipiac poll, the averages come out looking fairly similar if you account for all general election polls aside from Rubio who beats Sanders according to every other poll.
So, funnily enough, the most "presidential" candidate is Marco Rubio. He quite literally loses to no other candidate and has the best chance of succeeding in a general election while Trump, ironically, has the worst chance in a general election.

These polls are always bullshit and mean nothing. You have to wait until the general election period where the candidates are actually going head to head. There isn't much shit being flung between sanders and hillary because
1) they're both limp-dicked libcucks
2) there's basically no competiton, what with only 2 actual candidates and one is already pre-determined to win
3) the entire media is pro-democrat and so they cover both of them favorably from the get-go.
So right now, there's very little negative talk about these candidates. But during the general election, there will be much more scrutiny placed upon the DNC nominee (read: hillary). And most importantly, Trump hasn't bothered attacking the democrats yet because there's no need to do that so early on before the nomination. Just wait until after the convention and he's going to absolutely shred hillary to pieces.

It isn't a waste to back a candidate as long as you recognize that a donation is more than buying a win. You donate to help them win, sure. The more important reason to vote (and donate) is to increase visibility on issues you find important.
The amouny of support bernie got will carry forward into affecting every other politicians platform and future elections, now that there is a recognized base who could support a candidate like sanders.
Trump and Sanders are the drop of rain that broke the dam. The old guard of the parties are done after this cycle even if one wins. Grassroots movements have too much power now thanks to the internet.
