I think the only ticket that can really beat Trump at this point is Sanders/Warren. You'll have to force every dem or liberal to get out to vote since republicans/trump-supporters have been coming out in higher than expected numbers.
Sanders is a pussy and can't attack Clinton on issues that normal americans understand and dislike. Trump has been accused of every -ism there is and is still going strong. Trump will simply hammer down on every negative aspect of Clinton's life. From her emails to her husband. Everything that has been off limits to Sanders will be fair game to Trump.

But just as much as Republicans/Trump supporters don't give a single a shit about people calling him sexist, racist, etc., most Democrats don't give a shit about her emails and most of the other scandals associated with her name. Plus, I feel like a Hillary/Bernie ticket would bring many more Democrats out to the polls (granted, that's just speculation).
And I disagree with a Sanders/Warren ticket being able to beat Trump: for one thing, Warren is better off in the Senate, and if Bernie somehow ended up getting the Democratic nomination, he would alienate a bunch of moderates as soon as people started calling him a socialist and pointing out the illogical aspects of his plan. Clinton is a moderate, so she's a better ticket. That's always been the case.

If you read the comments on NYT articles, where people are almost uniformly liberal, a lot of people are actually bothered by her emails and Wall Street speeches.
I have a hard time believing Clinton would pick Sanders as her VP (I think she would only do that out of desperation) because it would confine her to running on a hard left platform, which would turn a lot of "independent" (if independents actually exist) voters.
I also can't imagine Warren running in this cycle, although she might want a VP slot in order to get her name out there. Maybe that's what she is trying to do with those tweets. However, I think it's important to note that her tweets were just a bland rehash of all the trite name-calling we've already seen.
In my opinion, Trump has already received the worst criticism anyone can really level at him, and his image/appeal can only really improve as more people actually see him as a political contender, especially once they see him 1 on 1 with HRC, who is an awful speaker and absolutely shit at thinking on her feet and has an unpleasant voice.

The comments section of NYT articles are certainly not a source of statistical data. In a McClatchy-Marist poll, only 6% of Democrats said they think Hillary Clinton did something illegal regarding her emails.
And I think a Sanders VP choice would make sense. Because a VP choice isn't necessarily about choosing a moderate person to get independent votes. Your choice of VP is all about targeting a voting block. Take McCain in 2008. Do you think he was targeting moderates by choosing Sarah Palin as his VP? Fuck no.
Now that I think about it, Warren as a VP is also a possibility for Hillary.
