If it is confirmed a Dyson sphere their civilization may be at or near the singularity with their AI. In this situation we would have to pump resources into AI research and colonize several of our celestial bodies to prepare for potential war, or at least make it slightly harder to wipe us out in one shot. While it may seem as if all is lost due to them having such a huge head start I would argue the opposite is true. Currently our radio waves have only propagated ~200 light years into space. This means while it's very possible their civilization is aware that there is simple life on Earth they likely won't have any sign that we have made the technological leap for several hundred years. That is plenty of time to invest our resources into AI and catch up or even surpass them technologically. At the very lease we would be able to stand a fighting chance in a war, especially if we hit first.
